The Altar Guild checks on the placement of the altar flowers and special floral arrangements as needed. They see that the sponsors receive their arrangements at the end of the Sunday service. They make sure that the candles are filled, and that the paraments are the correct liturgical color on the altar, and help decorate the church for special services. The chairperson for this committee is Judy Whitmoyer.
The Christian Education Committee works to plan, co-ordinate and evaluate the Christian Education progran of Bern Reformed UCC for people of all ages. The chairperson is Janet Mogel.
The Community Concern provides educational information and opportunities for service in community organizations. The food ministry for the hungry of the Reading area is part of their work. Betty Riegel and Iva Trumbor are the chairpersons for this committee.
The Welcoming Committee seeks ways to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ, welcomes new people from the community into membership in our church, and plans orientation sessions and receptions for new members.
The Activities Committee involves our chuch members in a variety of programs for all members of the church family. Programs are such as: road rallies, progressive diners, and trips to places of interest.
The Fund Raising Committee looks for and plans for creative ways to earn money towards the capital expenses of the church. The chairpersons are Barbara and Gary Reed.
The Prayer Chain Committee was started by our congregation. Its purpose is to offer our members the opportunity to express concerns for their family and friends. The chairperson for this committee is Sue Vituszynski.
The Property Committee is responsible for maintaining and overseeing the maintenance of the church. The chairperson is David Moerder.
The Stewardship Committee plans educational programs about our church's work and financial needs. It also charts the budget for our church and encourages the giving of members to the church's work at home and beyond. Larry Benevit is the chairperson.
The Sunshine Committeedevelops and spreads good will among our members. The chairperson is Kim Whittemore.
The Worship and Music committee coordinates the worship and music programs of the church. It plans for creative worship experiences and sees that the existing programs function well. Our director of music is Mr. Kevin Kline whose creative work has enhanced our worship and lifted our spirits.
